  • You have Something Unique to Offer

    Aug 22, 2020

You have something unique to offer or come up with what you can offer to the world and I’m going to give you 7 yes or no questions and you just have to give yourself 1 point if your answer is yes and 0 if your answer is no. I suggest to grab a piece of pen or paper or open up your notes app and score yourself.

    1. Do you believe that you have one thing that you have figured out that you used to struggle with?
    2. Do you have notable setbacks or challenges that you either have survived or successfully overcome or navigated in the last 3-5 years?
    3. Do you have any interests, hobbies or passions that you regularly dedicate your time to (a couple of hours)?
    4. Do your friends or family often seek your advice on certain topics or areas? Is there one specific question that you get asked over and over again? Is there an area of expertise that your friends can count on you for? It might be better to ask this either your friends or family regarding this to help you determine what it is.
    5. Do you feel particularly called to serve the world in some way? (Some people just feel a calling from a higher power.)
    6. Have you learned to do something new in the last 3-5 years that required some extra steps?
    7. Do you have any unique way or ways of doing something or thinking about something?

Now, that you have your score for those seven questions, let’s total those up and you should get a score out of seven.

    • If you get 0 –2: It’s not that you don’t have a unique offer to make, but instead, you aren’t in the position to recognize that you actually do have one yet. But I believe that everyone has some unique experience, expertise, knowledge or offer that they can make for the world. Try to revisit some of those questions or maybe send those questions to a friend or a group of friends coz I bet you have something unique to offer.

    • 3-above: You do have something unique to offer. Chances are, as we were going to those questions, you might have ideas popping into your head, different or possible ways you could offer, serve, or teach and share your knowledge.

There might be some common push backs that we think, like:

    • What qualifies me to share that expertise? Why would anyone care what I have to say?

Well, those skills, expertise, challenges you overcame happened for a reason that they deserve to be shared with the world. Someone out there who needs to hear what you have gone through and to know that they are not the only one in the world because you will connect with them.

    • There’s a lot of people who are offering something similar, why would anyone care about me?

I believe that there should be reframing that goes on when we look around and see that there are tons of people who offer something similar to us:

    1. If there are many people offering a similar niche that means that there’s a high demand for it. A lot of people need that service or knowledge or expertise.
    2. We should keep a mindset of trying to help or serve the best as you can so we can both grow with our audience even if we are not the “go-to expert” or the “guru.”

The moral of the story is that you just need to get started. This first unique offer that you’re gonna do, it’s not gonna be perfect or it’s not gonna be what you’re doing for the rest of your life but you need to first offer something before you expand your market or offer new things.

“He who starts and fails will always be ahead of he who fails to start.” Start sloppy or messy. Hope this helps or inspires you.
