Responding to comments on social media is very important. No matter what social media you're on, there's probably a way where people can reach out or engage with you via comment and this time,  I want to share with you these 6 tips that help me increase my engagement on Instagram by just responding to comments:

    1. Speak like a human being - Use whole words when responding to comments and not abbreviation to show respect and that you give your time and effort in replying to them.

    1. Talk like you're talking to a friend - When you talk to someone like you know them and personally care for them, they can feel that and they will also feel the same towards you.

    1. Come from a place of empathy - Sometimes, people will disagree with you or leave a hateful comment. No matter what you do, reply to that comment from a place of empathy. Understand that maybe that person is going through a bad day. It will help you be more patient and relaxed when helping people out in Social Media.

    1. Be polite, appreciative and take responsibility - people are taking their time out of their day to comment on your social media and don't take that lightly. Make each comment as if it’s the most important thing that has ever said to you and respond with care.

    1. Match the level of their excitement or their level of effort - if someone gave commented an emoji, reply with an emoji. If they gave you a one-sentence comment or question, give them one or two-sentence response answer.

    1. Respond to all comments and as quickly as possible – When you post a photo/video, Instagram’s algorithm wants to know that you are engaging with the users underneath the post. Also, reply to each and every comment whether good or bad/spammy comments.

    Bonus Tips:

    •   Once you start responding to comments, and you realize how frequently you’re writing the same paragraph, you can create shortcuts on your phone. For example, typing “thx” will be a shortcut to fill in a much longer and thoughtful thank you response.
    • Respond with a video comment with a personalized video when someone direct messages you or gives a shout out on Instagram/Facebook/Twitter. Thank them and ask them their take away from what your post was. Ask a question and get everything rolling on social media for someone to engage further and allow that relationship to bloom so it will get more people to comment on your social media.
